Catherine Pooler Designs:: In the Kitchen:: Lava Lamp

The In the Kitchen Release is available at Catherine Pooler Designs now! This release is full of funky, retro images, textures, patterns and colors that will make your crafty heart swoon! I think this Lava Lamp Cover Plate Die is the coolest, and so versatile.

I turned the design from the Lava Lamp Cover Plate Die to resemble radishes, as I had veggies in mind because of the awesome The Veggies, Please Bundle. I started with my standard white card base made from Ultra Smooth White Cardstock. On another sheet of Cardstock I die cut the the Lava Lamp Cover Plate Die and inked the pattern in Rouge Ink. This gave me rows and rows of stacked radishes!

I stamped a sentiment from Magnetic Messages with Midnight Ink and adhered it to the card with dimensional adhesive. I love the coverage that Catherine Pooler Inks provide with detailed, somewhat solid stamps like these messages. I finished the card by stamping a few "stems" for the "radishes" in Garden Party Ink with a stamp and die from Veggies, Please.  card base, with one highlighted by foam adhesive on the back. So super simple, but I love it!

You'll for sure want to check out this entire In the Kitchen Release as there are many new staple items and of course, lots of fun stamps and dies, too!
Please be sure to check back this week as I will have even more projects to show!

Catherine Pooler Designs:: In the Kitchen Release

The In the Kitchen Release is available at Catherine Pooler Designs now! This release is full of funky, retro images, textures, patterns and colors that will make your crafty heart swoon!

Today I am featuring a super simple card with items from the The Veggies, Please Bundle. I started with my standard white card base made from Ultra Smooth White Cardstock. Onto it, I stamped the Rocks-Ann Background Stamp in All that Jazz Ink. I stamped some of the cool sentiments from Magnetic Messages Stamp Set in Melon Ice, Mardi Gras, Garden Party and Lime Rickey Inks. This sentiment stamp set has so many versatile sentiments in a cool font, I absolutely love it! If you want multiple sentiments on one set and want to play with color combinations, this set is perfect for you!

I adhered the messages on top of the card base, with one highlighted by foam adhesive on the back. So super simple, but I love it!

Veggies, Please!

I'm excited to show you this card I made using items from the The Veggies, Please Bundle and Kitchen Staples Bundle from the In the Kitchen Release coming soon from Catherine Pooler Designs

The Kitchen Staples Bundle includes many must-have essentials, such as the Stitched Squares Dies and Potluck Party Patterned Paper that I've used in my card to create the perfect mats and focal areas. The Veggies, Please Bundle is a delightful mix of funky and 1970s inspired images and patterns. I've used a few of the veggies on my card from the Veggies, Please Stamp and Die Set, as well as the cool Magnetic Messages Stamp Set for my sentiment.

I used ink colors that were in the Potluck Party Patterned Paper (isn't it great that the colors match the current inks??!)...Rouge, Mandarin Spice and Sauna.

Catherine has a fantastic You Tube Video here showcasing the Veggies, Please Bundle from the upcoming In the Kitchen Release. I always enjoy watching her videos, such great energy and so many tips and tricks!

The In the Kitchen Release will be available in the Catherine Pooler store on Wednesday, January 29th. StampNation members get to shop early on Tuesday, January 28th at Noon EST.  (affiliate links used at no cost to you, thank you for your support! I've linked the new products, but they do not go live at the shop until the release.)

Focal Floral Thanks

I was browsing through my facebook feed one day and stumbled upon a post for wallpaper. It instantly inspired me to pull out the same colors and stamps similar to the florals used. Where do you find inspiration?

I started with a white card base made from Ultra Smooth White Cardstock, and then a panel as well, trimmed 1/4" smaller to form a focal panel. I then used Suede Shoes, Mint to Be, Mardi Gras, All that Jazz, Aquatini and Eucalyptus inks and a Club Sursee stamp set called Hello Friend Floral to create the background. (Sign up for Club Sursee and you can purchase amazing sets included in past Sursee sets!)

I finished the card with a focal sentiment made from the Thanks Die. Love that I can create my own cardstock by die cutting the word with white cardstock and inking completely over. It was fun to try out a new-to-me color combination, and I can see this being done in different floral stamps too. (affiliate links used)

Sparkle And Shine

I have a quick card share today. My manager took a job outside of my place of employment, and as the resident card-maker, I was asked to create a card for all of our team to sign. I only had a night to make it, so this was quick and easy!

I started with a white card base, topped with some purple glitter paper and the amazing Retro Star Cover Plate from Catherine Pooler Designs. I then topped that with an embossed sentiment from Be Wild Stamp Set that was cut with the Fitted Frames Dies.

I have a whole pack of this glitter paper in a rainbow of colors, I'm going to try this out with the other Cover Plate Dies available at Catherine Pooler. (affiliate links used)

A Tropical Breath

I created another card for the Altenew's 2019 Year in Review Challenge, this time focusing on the lovely hibiscus and color scheme of July's photo. It's like a tropical breath of fresh air during these gloomy winter months to create with bright and fun colors and images.

I started by stamping some beautiful hibiscus flowers and leaves from the Hibiscus Bouquet Stamp Set onto a white card base and once again used Catherine Pooler Inks (Orange Peel, Samba, Be Mine, Spruce and Sage). I then finished with a sentiment from the Many Thanks Stamp Set. I like the burst of bright orange surrounded by the greens in the inspiration photo, so that is what inspired my layout on this one layered card.

A fresh breath of tropical air~

Foggy Flowers

I seem to enjoy the hustle and bustle of preparing for Christmas and Christmas Day itself, but it is ever so nice to have the week between Christmas and New Year's to unwind and relax. I created a few cards just for fun for Altenew's 2019 Year in Review Challenge

I was inspired by the beautiful, serene images and colors of December's Challenge, and attempted to recreate it on my card.

I started by stamping some beautiful flowers Garden Treasure Stamp Set and leaves from Remember This from Catherine Pooler Inks onto Bristol Smooth Cardstock, then watercolored the images in with the inks. (Sangria, Rose Petals and Coral Cabana. I also used Green Tea and Eucalyptus for the leaves, and Bellini for the small flowers). I finished the card by lightly inking the edges with Stone Blue and then flicking ink in both Stone Blue and Green Tea to create a foggy look. I mounted the panel onto a light grey card base.

I purposely wanted a sketchy look to match the mysterious fog like appearance in the inspiration photo, so I opted for double stamping. I didn't want to perfectly align my prior stamping so I offset each stamp just a bit. I love the results and it was so much fun to play!

Really Big Dreams

I hope everyone had a happy holiday! It was such a relaxing time for me, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Tonight I have a card that showcases patterned paper. I don't often use patterned paper, so this card is a big departure from my norm.

Catherine Pooler Designs usually releases coordinating paper packs with their stamps and dies, and the most recent release, the Out West Collection was no exception. I chose one of the patterns from the Prickly Patterned Paper to create my base, and then simply added the fun Dream Big Word Die as a sentiment. I embellished with a few sequins from the Santa Fe Sequin Mix.

Explore

Today's card has to be one of my favorites that I created with the Out West Collection from Catherine Pooler Designs that was just released!

It's simple but full of mixed media too! I started with a card base of watercolor paper and created a soft background with Hot Tub and Green Tea Inks. After the background dried, I created another layer by outlining the Triangle Cover Plate pattern (I cut a stencil from it!) with a black pen. Love the look that this gives, and takes a cover plate to a whole new level!

I finished the card with a simple sentiment made from the Explore Word Die. I stacked three of them together, and the top piece was watercolored with Polished Ink.

Here are the ink colors I've used...what a pretty combination!

One of the best parts of cardmaking for me, even after all these years of making cards, is trying to stretch my supplies and get different looks. I can't wait to see if you try this technique too!

The Out West Collection is influenced by the Southwest, boho love and nature but really is perfect for any card. You can order individual products, bundles like Dream BigShine OnWanna Hug or you can order it all

Aloe There!

I have a card today that showcases how all of the products and bundles from the Out West Collection from Catherine Pooler Designs work so well together. Each release is curated so carefully from Catherine and her team, so that each can work splendidly separately or together. The collection itself is influenced by the Southwest, boho love and nature, You can order individual products, bundles like Dream BigShine OnWanna Hug or you can order it all

I started with a card base of Ultra Smooth White Cardstock and stamped the trio of mountains image from Mountain of Thanks in Sauna Ink as a background pattern. I then created a focal panel by die cutting a circle and border from the previously released Snow Globe Dies (already on my desk for holiday projects) and stamping a background with some small images from the Dream Big Sentiment Stamp Set and then a sentiment and focal image from Wanna Hug.

Here are the ink colors I've used...what a pretty combination!

I really like how well all of these products work together and that they can be mixed and matched.
