Fall Leaves

I can't help but long for fall, it's almost here!...the coolish days, football, the smell of fallen leaves...The Boho Fall Collection from Catherine Pooler Designs is almost here too! The Boho Fall Collection will be available Wednesday, August 11th for general release and Tuesday, August 10th for Stamp Nation Members.

Today, I went the traditional route with my color palette for a card featuring the Painted Leaves Bundle from the Boho Fall Collection. I stamped a panel with the large solid leaves from the Painted Leaves Stamp Set in Orange Peel, Shea Butter and Sauna. I then added their corresponding patterns, stamped in Merlot. (I love how Merlot acts as a black without being black). I filled in the white gaps with the dotted pattern stamped in Shea Butter. The panel was mounted to a card base that had been stamped in Shea Butte with the Light as a Feather Background Stamp. I bordered the panel with two thin strips of paper that are colored Merlot with the direct ink to paper technique.

I love the pattern that I created, it was so simple and quick! The card was finished with a white heat embossed sentiment on a Merlot. The sentiment is from the new sentiment set being released with this collection, Give Thanks Sentiment Stamp Set.

Catherine Pooler Designs: Boho Fall

 

The Boho Fall Collection from Catherine Pooler Designs is almost here! Dive into fall crafting with this collection that features leaves, feathers and Halloween! The Boho Fall Collection will be available Wednesday, August 11th for general release and Tuesday, August 10th for Stamp Nation Members.

The Painted Leaves Bundle from the Boho Fall Collection is amazing! The large solid leaves with corresponding pattern stamps are perfect for backgrounds, mixed media, techniques or a simple stamped and die cut image on a card. This Bundle is small, but mighty, as it includes a large 6x8 stamp set of leaves and patterns, the coordinating die set and an amazing background stamp.

I took the name of the bundle literally with my card! I stamped the solid images from the Painted Leaves Stamp Set in Day Dream, Orange Peel and Sage, and then die cut them from the coordinating Painted Leaves Dies. Although there are many fun patterns to add to the leaves by stamping, I took a dry paint brush brushed in Royal Gold Izink and painted gold onto the leaves before stamping for a fun "painted" look. I also splattered the leaves with the Izink as well.

The leaves were adhered to a slimline card base made with Ultra Smooth White Cardstock, topped with the beautiful Cleo Slimline Die covered in Royal Gold Izink. I finished the card with a sentiment from the Painted Leaves Stamp Set and some gold Nuvo drops.

MFT Camp Create Day 3: Emboss Resist

 

 I've got a card for the third day of MFT's Summer Camp. This day's class was about Emboss Resist. I often forget about this technique, and really wanted to push myself to use bright colors like Mindy did.

I started with a plain white card base that was splattered with black paint. Then I stamped and white heat embossed some of the hedgehogs from Happy Hedgehogs (retired, but still love! Maybe they will bring it back?), die cut them and then inked them up in rainbow order.

I then finished the card with a stamped Hello and a large die cut from the retired Friend Die-Namics.

I've got two more projects to create to finish this awesome camp, and I'm going to make sure I carve out time!

MFT Camp Create Day 2: Wonderful Watercolor

 I look forward to the MFT Summer Camp every year! The second day of "camp" features Wonderful Watercolors. I wanted to watercolor some critters, and I love the story book look that came from it!

This card started by stamping some of the cute images from the retired Forest Friends onto watercolor paper and then used traditional watercolors to color them. I then used the also retired Stitched Triple Peek-a-Boo Windows Die-Namics cut from a woodgrain pattern. I backed the windows with light blue paper and then tucked the images inside.

I bordered the panel with some blue checked paper and finished with a sentiment from More Essential Sentiments.

I'm working my way towards creating for the rest of the days this week, fitting some time in during the long work days!

Heffy Doodle Fan Instagram Hop

 

A handful of card makers are coming together to celebrate Heffy Doodle! I've been a fan of Heffy Doodle and Lesley's cute images for a few years now. Heffy Doodle offers such a wide array of products including stamps, dies, stencils and some fabulous foam tape as well that is perfect for interactive cards.

This card started with a plum, jewel tone card base. I then used the Fancy Foliage Stencil to apply some gold dimensional glaze to a white panel background. I then adhered a white panel where I arranged stamped and die cut images from the cute and cheeky Chimply the Best Stamp Set and coordinating Dies.

To carry the jewel tones throughout the card, I used a deep green blue for the leaves and added some gold accents to the monkeys. I finished with a stamped sentiment from Chimply the Best.

MFT Camp Create 2021: Spectacular Shakers

I look forward to the MFT Summer Camp every year! The first day of "camp" features Spectacular Shakers. I was inspired by Stephanie's card, I pulled out a large Hugs die-cut from MFT, now retired, and created a scene around my shaker.

This card started by stamping the cute image from You Have My Heart onto a white card base. I masked the image and then inked a sky around it and added some splatters. I then colored the image with Copics-adding some fun patterns to the girl's dress. I die cut some clouds from MFT's Magical Unicorns and added them to the card. Then I die cut from spearmint cardstock a panel using the Grassy Hills Die-Namics and then the Hugs word.

Before adding the panel, I adhered acetate and dimensional foam adhesive behind the word and added a mix of green sequins, clear sequins and flower shaped sequins. I finished the card with a white heat embossed sentiment on a black panel.

Looking forward to creating for the rest of the days of the camp!

For Your Retirement

Do you have a retirement to celebrate soon? I did for a good friend that has retired early, she'll be enjoying time at her cabin in the mountains.

I couldn't resist to make a card from all of us at work to help her celebrate, using the 

Mountain of Thanks Stamp and Die Set from Catherine Pooler Designs. Whenever I use this set, I'm drawn to create a sunset sky too, I just can't help it! I created the sunset sky using the direct ink to paper technique, where you swipe the inkpad right across your card and/or paper. For the sky I used Chiffon, Limoncello, Catching Rays and Orange Twist. I then created the mountain scapes with Limencello and Catching Rays, Orange Twist and Pucker Up, Pucker Up and Sangria, and then the trees with Grape Crush and Queen for a Day. I then added a sentiment from the Fearless Pursuit Stamp Set.

I just really love the process of direct ink to paper with these inks, they are so vibrant and intense! I also love coloring the die cuts with a lighter shade and then stamping the image in a darker shade.

I certainly wish my co-worker the best in her new life and home!
