Building Blocks

Can you watch a baby discover the joys of stacking items over and over again? I think about the skills that they are developing with just a few objects and am simply amazed. I think most of our fine motor skills were developed with the simple building block, and that today, as adults, we still can learn from building blocks.

This card features Hexagon-A-Thon from Schlosser Designs and a bit of Divine Twine available at the uber talented Ryann Marin's Etsy Store. Love it. (Hint: It also is a predecessor to some fun things that will be available right here on my blog very soon!)

Supplies Used: Cardstock: (Kraft, Cream) PTI Clear Stamps: (Hexagons from Hexagon-A-Thon) Schlosser Designs, (Sentiments from Chatterbox) Practicing Creativity Designs Ink: (Pink Chalk) Colorbox (Versamark) (Antique Linen Distress) Ranger Other: (White Embossing Powder) SU, (Green Bakers Twine) Divine Twine

  6. What a neat card! I agree about learning by building blocks . . . it is like the process of learning from talented artists like you - picking up an idea here, a way to balance there, a pack of twine at Etsy . . . LOL (you are such an enabler!)

ps - I bought some Japanese tapes after being inspired by you, too! Oh dear!

    Hugs!

  26. Great card, Karen. Love the way you stacked the hexagons -- and the insights on building blocks. I love seeing what the kids at the preschool build in the block centers. One year we had a set of identical twins (4 year olds) who built identical and very detailed towers. Definitely had to take a picture of that one. And the girls last year (also 4 yrs old) who worked together to build a shopping mall very similar to the upscale one down the road from the school, complete with underground parking. Love the block center, love your card!
