Hi There
Watching my youngest son (he's four) develop a relationship with our yellow lab (he's nine!) has been amazing. He's taken to calling Tulley "his puppy" and is constantly quite concerned about his whereabouts. Often times I find him sneaking food to the dog, explaining to the dog duties of a being a partner in crime, or resting his head on the dog's belly. It's really sweet and I need to remember to let him savor these moments while I can (even if it means a couple extra pounds of weight for the dog or possibly being hit with a nerf bullet...)
Mandy at Limelight Papercrafts has this fabulous sketch challenge and this week you can have a chance to win a prize of Basic Grey Sugar Rush Woolies if you participate and use chipboard! I'd love to see your interpretation of this challenge for sure.
My card started with the negative image of a chipboard flower that I covered in paper. I stamped this cute puppy onto a panel and then glued it behind the chipboard piece. I slightly offset the big circle so I could have room for a sentiment.
Limelight has some super amazing store closing deals-including sales on a few Lawn Fawn Stamp sets!
Supplies Used:
Cardstock: (Kraft) PTI, (Ivory) The Paper Company
Patterned Paper: (The Boyfriend Collection) Cosmo Cricket

ReplyDeleteSo cute! So is your story! :) One morsel of advice? Get your own nerf gun! Best thing I ever did! I even put a dot of pink nail polish to id my bullets ;) you know the old saying- If you can't beat 'em... :D
ReplyDeleteLove the nerf bullet story with the dog...we have those flying all over our house! Love your card too...I have never used the negative image of the chipboard...love it!
ReplyDeletea boy and his dog-love it:) and i lov the little pops of red on your cute card, karen!
ReplyDeletesuper cute karen, love how you used the challenge!

Your sweet story of your son and dog is so familiar! My kids love our dog, and she will let them do just about anything with her. However, she doesn't enjoy it when my 3 year old chases her with his play lawn mower!
ReplyDeleteI love the bold look of this card and the adorable image. I should rummage through my chipboard stash more often!
This is so cute! My kids refer to our dog (Stella) as puppy even though she's 12! My 7yo likes to set up little puppy hidey holes for Stella that include a towel and a bowl of food. LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat fun... love how you incorporated dots into your patterned paper (you, pp- well done!). Nerf bullets... part of the job?
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh: what a BRILLIANT version of the sketch--i ♥LOVE♥ that you've used the negative space from that chipboard flower as a frame! utter genius!!!
ReplyDelete(toooooooooo cute about your son and "HIS" puppy!!! i am sure tulley is willing to take a nerf bullet or two in exchange for that level of love and companionship from a sweet boy!!!) ♥
This is so sweet! I love the panel with the main image. I also love the story you shared.
ReplyDeleteStay warm! It is supposed to get COLD down here. I'm sure you will get some of it too.
Such a cute card (and story!) You've reminded me that I have that DP hoarded somewhere....I must find and use it! LOL!

ReplyDeleteTFS Karen!!
Anything with a cute dog on it gets two thumbs up from me! I like the idea of using the negative image from the die cut. I also like the rough edge of the patterned paper - goes well with the doggieness of the card!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing the sweet story about your boy and his puppy. very sweet card, too!
ReplyDeleteI think our younger chidren would be the best of pals Karen! Mine is OBSESSED with our dog.
ReplyDeleteYour card is adorable. The thin ribbon strips (PP maybe?) with the sentiment draw my eye right in!
I love the story and your card! I love the way you highlighted the dog inside the die cut scallop!
ReplyDeleteAwww, this is so cute. I love how you share snippets of your life with your posts, such a sweet story. My dogs are 12 and 17 (nearly 18), and I always refer to them as my babies.
