Decorative Trim

Today was a good day. In the normal scheme of life, I should be sad that I was sent home from my job because there was not much work. Instead, today I celebrated that it was warm enough to go for a walk with a long standing friend. I celebrated with my oldest son the euphoria that freedom brings as he ran off the bus after a long day of school. I celebrated knowing that our district still has the funds to employee a wonderful speech therapist so she could to help my youngest son. Today, I celebrated the return of work for my husband. Yes, today I celebrated. Today was a good day.

This clean and simple card (with a lot of decorative trim!) was created with the current Embellish Magazine's Color Trend's Challenge in mind.

Do share, what are you unexpectedly celebrating today?

  7. Lovely design...I am with you on celebration the extra help our children can receive at school. Collin is going to a reading specialist and we've been working with his pediatrician to for some extra help. More than anything I want him to be confident in his abilities. So happy to hear your husband is back to work and hope the hours at your job pick up soon. Sounds wonderful to have a long walk with a good friend! Many treasures to celebrate Karen.

  11. We are totally on the same page today. Sorry that work is slow but glad that you were able to enjoy the time with an old friend. Sometimes those unexpected get togethers are the best of all. Glad to hear hubby is back to work too! Whoop whoop!

I have a stressful issue that's been hanging over my head for almost a month now (with no end in sight as it involves lawyers). Today, however, I had 3 lovely moments.
    1. I woke to find I'd won a prize on the Moxie Fab web site.
    2. A lady bought 19 cards from me.
    3. Best of all: I ran in to a client from the animal hospital today who I hadn't seen since she'd been in a few years ago to have her elderly dog put to sleep. She said, "I never told you then but you were so kind to me on that awful day and I've never forgotten it. Thank you so much for that."
That really helped shift the dark cloud that's been dominating my mind.
Here's to another good day tomorrow!

  15. Your card and your comments made me smile! Loving that gorgeous paper and the ruffled trim, and the stitching is subtle but beautiful.

So inspired by your positive outlook on your day! That's wonderful news about your husband returning to work, and I hope things start to look up for you at work, too.

What am I celebrating today? Tonight my daughter read a book to me at bedtime, instead of me reading to her, and I was overflowing with pride at how much progress she has made in a few months. One of those wonderful mommy moments that washes away all of the everyday frustrations. Thanks for the reminder that every day offers reasons to celebrate.

  21. Karen--I love visiting your blog not only for your stunning cards, but for your wonderful anecdotes, insights and perspectives on everyday life!
Every night at dinner we each go around the table and share a really good thing that happened that day and a not so good thing--it's great family sharing time taht I pray continues into their teen years! Also, every night before bed, I ask my son (as part of his prayers) to identify 3 things he is thankful for; it's a great way to refocus on the positive!
Thanks for sharing your positive perspective today!
