Steppin' Into Summer


Steppin' into summer means showers every night for the boys who wash off the pounds of dirt loaded into their knees, countless loads of laundry so the popsicle drips do not stain, sidestepping live toads that somehow find new homes in brightly colored pails and lots and lots of watermelon as it finally cheap enough to buy...

Although not too original in its design, I tried to bring in some fun and "light" techniques. I printed the watermelon slice image and sentiment directly onto kraft cardstock and colored it in with a base of copics topped with colored pencils. The seeds were covered in enamel and the whole card base was spattered with glimmer mist and watered down distress inks.

    Hey, you new May Arts DT Ribbonista! I love your little journaling paragraphs! I learned after the first week of too much laundry from two dirty little boys to just let them play in the backyard in their swimpants or their underwear (which is how they can be found in my house all day long, ha ha) WAY less laundry! Love your card and the pun. I need some of that black enamel! Next M's coupon!

    Enamel sounds like a good one to have on hand.. and kraft and red are my favorite color combinations. Thanks for being the CAS queen and reminding me to keep it simple, b/c it works wonderfully.

    I must try layering my Prismas with Copics--love the dimension you achieved with them. And I still do not have any spray inks, but when I finally cave it will be because of you. That simple spray of ink adds so much to this card!

    we eat a lot of watermelon during summer. our cats love them and we made them into watermelon lemonade. they do cool you down! =) love the subtle misted background and your watermelon slice looks good enough to eat! super card, Karen!

    The card looks so CAS, but when you read all of the steps, it's even more amazing! The pencils on the Copics looks so cool--I'm going to have to try that. I LOVE the watermelon seeds :)

    Oh how watermelon reminds me of summer, sitting here freezing tonight, 5 degrees.....but Nate goes for watermelon everytime we go shopping although over here, watermelon for a smaller slice costs more than a box of chocolates. I never not get him his treat, gorgeous work my friend. MElxx
