Colored Woodgrain


Have you ever had the chance to walk through a wooded acre at night, complete with humongous oaks, towering pines and rows and rows of cornfields? Not that I make it a habit to go wandering in the pitch black, but I do go out occasionally with my boys (big and little) while they take the hounds out to hunt. It is beautiful. Every item takes on a different hue in the moonlight or saturation when discovered with the spotlight.



I wanted to take a slightly unconventional direction of the Young Crafter's Unite Challenge: Color a Stamped Image by choosing a non-traditional stamped image to color. I remembered the bold graphic lines of this woodgrain stamp and thought how interesting and modern it would look when the lines where colored with different shades of one color family-as inspired by the Birthday Festivities at The Paper Variety.

    Karen, they are stunning!!! So beautiful, I can imagine that it took a while to colour each grain on the stamp, but it was most definitely worth it. So gorgeous :)

    These remind me of drawings I used to do when I was a kid, I would trace around the outside of an image or word with different colors of markers each time getting bigger and bigger until I filled up the whole page. These are indeed a unique take on the YCU challenge! Thanks for joining us! :)
