The Gruffalo
A mouse takes a stroll through the deep, dark wood when along comes a hungry fox, then an owl, and then a snake. The mouse is good enough to eat but smart enough to know this, so he invents the gruffalo! As Mouse explains, the gruffalo is a creature with terrible claws, and terrible tusks in its terrible jaws, and knobbly knees and turned-out toes, and a poisonous wart at the end of its nose. But Mouse has no worry to show. After all, there’s no such thing as a gruffalo...
(The Gruffalo is a fairly new children's book by Julia Donaldson, and soon became a favorite of mine to read to my two boys.)
At CAS-ual Fridays this week we are challenging you to create a clean and simple project that is Black & White and Read All Over (use the colors black, white and red) and in honor of International Literacy Day-your creation must be inspired by a book! The sponsor is Paper & Such. For all the details, challenge rules and Girl Friday Inspiration, please visit the CAS-ual Fridays blog.
I greatly admire the work of Courtney from back to the drawing board and turned to her signature style of stitching under an image to help me with my creation today. I used the pattern from the inside of an envelope to paper piece my "gruffalo" and then pieced his eyes, horn, and tooth separately.
On separate news, my folks are in from out of state so I might not make the rounds to your blogs as often as I'd like, in lieu of spending some quality time with them. I will make up for it in a couple of weeks, promise! Hope to get lots of scrapbooking done!
Supplies Used:
Cardstock: (White) Office Max
Stamps: (Falling for You, Giddy Bugs) Paper Smooches
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Momento
Other: (Rhinestone) Michaels, (Envelope)
Oh I loooooovee the Gruffalo books... and this card is priceless. So many great things you could do with that fabulous Paper Smooches creature. You should enter this in the PDC color challenge, since you're both doing b&w and red.
