Mo's Diner
There's nothing like sipping a thick milkshake in a shaped green-tinted glass through a long red straw. When you are close to the bottom simply pour the rest of your treat from the still cold stainless steel mug that the waitress served with the shake. Gotta love those vintage diners.
January marks a new sketch designer, Pamela, and guest designers Candice, Julie and Emily at Skipping Stones Design. I invite you to take a peek at the inspiration over on the blog and try your hand at the sketch challenge as well, there's a great prize up for grabs!
It's confession time. I was totally stumped with this sketch, not sure why. I just froze. After I thawed I made two cards that I was completely unhappy with. So much so that they ended up in the good ol' garbage. I needed some other inspiration, so I turned to the challenge at Paper Variety. The pattern from Pumpkin Seed Sentiments is so much fun, especially stamped with black ink onto white! Add a hint of pink and I think it is very reminscent of the retro diner cafes.
it's beautiful karen. the hint of pink outlining the panels is genius...gorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteYou sure managed just fine with this beauty Karen! LOVE that pop of pink from the cardstock to the baker's twine! What a fab card!
ReplyDeleteI love how you've inked the edges of that background!

ReplyDeleteKaren, this is awesome! The pink just carries it to a whole new level! Love it!
ReplyDeleteYou forgot my advice that if you really dislike the card you're suppose to send it to your mom-- b/c she'll LOVE it (regardless of its imaginary flaws). The twine really ties this card together (pun intended).
ReplyDeleteNot only is your card totally striking, but the way you had it set up for photograph against that background, genius!!
