Let It Snow!

I am quite honored to be SRM Sticker's July Guest Designer. They are featuring two of my projects, and if you'd like to mosey on over to the SRM Stickers Blog today to see the other, I'd be tickled. I'm hooked on these stickers. They are clear, fun, versatile and very easy to use. They are seamless as they blend into cardstock or over stamped images.

This clean and simple card came together quickly after I had the general concept in mind. A card with great impact, a nostalgic message and only a few supplies used! There are just a few more days to play with the Clean and Simple Challenge at the SRM Stickers Blog (which is also a perfect opportunity to play along with the Let's Do Clean & Graphic Challenge at Moxie Fab World as well...).

Supplies Used: Cardstock: (Kraft) PTI Other: (Snow Sentiment and Image Sticker) SRM Stickers, (White Polka Dot Tape) 7 Gypsies (Red Damask, Black Polka Dot Tape) Pink Paisly (Rhinestone) Prima Tools: (Corner Round Punch) Fiskers

Shine

I sat in the auditorium with a hundred plus other senior designers. My accomplishments, my rejections, my friendships and my journey vividly flashed through my mind before the dean called my name and I walked up to get my bachelor's degree. I wasn't sure what the future held for all of us, for me. But I did know that it was my day to shine.

Long time, no see. I've been enjoying some time with my mom who came to visit. This card's design was inspired by Sketchy Thursdays latest scrapbook layout challenge. I also wanted to create an unconventional graduation themed card instead of the cap and gown in celebration of the graduate (SRM Celebrate Life Challenge). The sentiment pulls the design, complimentary colors and theme together.

Peacock Banners

One of the duties of my day job working with hospital insurance billing is to open mail. Lots and lots of mail. After reading a post from Sideoats & Scribbles a while back, I never realized the beauty in the patterns of security lined envelopes until Lisa pointed it out. Red ones. Blue ones. A ton of black ones.

Everything but the Kitchen Sink's latest household challenge is to use envelopes. Off the Wall Craftiness has a lovely peacock image for her color challange of turquoise, lime and black. I pulled out a vast number of the black patterned lined envelopes and created a fresh and funky background for the fun banners. All the pennants in the banners are covered with Glossy Accents for a real flashy shine, just the nature of a peacock! The colors just felt like there should be a celebration somewhere, so I made it into a birthday card for the SRM Sticker Challenge.

Twitterpated

I think the first movie I ever saw in a movie theater was Disney's Bambi. I remember little of the actual movie, I'm pretty sure I spent most of the time buried in my mother's arms because during the dark, loud and scary parts. I do remember the spring time scene where all the newer animals found their soul mates and became "twitterpated", the little Thumper's leg going and going...
I had the above love images in my head when I saw this fawn digi image. I reflected him to create a her and slid them close together so that their noses touched, printed them out on patterned paper and cut them out. The colors for the card are derived from The Curtain Call Color Challenge. I'm hoping to hand this out for a wedding or an anniversary-both fine celebrations of life and a perfect fit for May's SRM Sticker Challenge. Inspiration also came from Lucy's lovely baby card here.

Supplies Used: Cardstock: White (Georgia Pacific) Kraft (SU) Patterned Paper: Hostess and Sweet Pea (SU) Digital Image: Skinny Fawn (TiffanyDoodles) Accents: Sentiment Sticker (SRM Stickers) Chipoard Heart (Heidi Grace) Linen Thread (SU) Labels 8 Nestabilities (Spellbinders) Black Jouranaling Pen (CM) Other: Foam Adhesive

I'm pretty sure that today is May 7th. About a month away from summer. I had to think twice after I saw this outside this afternoon. Snow. Snow? Seriously?

Hello Little Baby

How wonderful it is to pull out baby boy stickers from when I scrapbooked my babies' albums, and reminisce about the times when they were so tiny and dependent. {Seems too long ago!} I really wanted the stickers to be the showcase of this card, with their different but cohesive sizes and shapes, images and tones so I kept the card clean and simple. Proof to myself that I can a card can be made with stickers and not be overloaded with embellishments! I took an eraser to the edges of the stickers to lighten the print and soften the edges. Thanks again to SRM Stickers for the opportunity to walk down Memory Lane. **Sigh**

Be Thankful

From the words of Oprah Winfry: Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you never, ever have enough.
This sticker quote came from a pack by Creative Memories (and I'd like to think I should apply it to my stamping supply) and I based my card around it for the SRM Sticker Challenge (stickers and chipboard) and the Embellish Challenge (pink, turquoise, brown and ribbon). The basic layout of the sketch comes from CPS's sketch.

Orange Gratitude

There a lot of people in my life that do things for me and my family and a lot of times they won't take payment for what they've done. {Thank You-you know who you are!} So, sometimes if I can afford it myself I like to give them a gift card to the place where they like to go. I found a description of how to make a gift card holder here and used the new SU DSP Sweet Pea in the oranges for the SRM Sticker Challenge. The main panel of the card is two stickers and I simply stitched more around the one word I wanted to highlight. Using up stickers from my scrapbook stash has been a lot of fun-these stickers were from a kit from Creative Memories and a bit too small for my tastes for a scrapbook page but just right for a card.
