Number of Tools
I remember registering for our wedding with my husband and in order for him to remain remotely interested in towels and cooking supplies, we had to stop by the automotive department. The "combo" package wouldn't do, he had to register for the drill, the sander, the screwdriver set separately. I also recall his statements on how he needed to go to his father's, because his father has everything and can offer a solution to his problem. Of course, we are now older and therefore my car has to fight for room to rest at night. Do you think that men secretly justify their age by the number of tools or supplies that they own in their garage?
The Masculine Color Trends Challenge at Embellish Magazine inspired this design and direction of this clean and simple card. (Thanks to a great friend for her words of advice during my foray of not making anything post worthy...keep it clean and simple and true to my style and I'll like what I make.)
Supplies Used:
Cardstock: SU
Stamps: (You're the Man, Another Year) Practicing Creativity Designs
Ink: (Pigment) SU, (Chalk) Colorbox
Other: (Die) PTI, (Staples) Tim Holtz
I love your story about your husband. LOL! My boyfriend is the same way, we don't have a garage now which is really difficult for him (he has his tools and such in our unfinished walk out basement) but when we had a garage when we lived in Vegas (2 car garage) our cars were still parked in the driveway. LOL! He had his hobby car, 4 wheelers (which unfortunately we don't have anymore)and tools in the garage. No room for our nice working vehicles. HAHAHA!!!
ReplyDeleteAnywho, your card is fabulous. :-)
Your card is fantastic! You'll never go wrong when you stay true to yourself.
ReplyDeletefun story. Love this masculine card.
ReplyDeleteLovely card dear.
ReplyDeleteGrin, this is fabulous! Love the PTI notebook die in there too, great advice (chuckle). Ben says "I like that card. Because it reminds me of daddy." You've got a winner in our books.
ReplyDeleteI had a feeling you'd use this stamp set for this challenge--only because I wished I had this set to complete the challenge myself. Great card--love the note paper and the different heights of the bolts.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more Karen. Great man card.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Design Karen.. .love the masculine card.. such wonderful play on the colours and tag :)
ReplyDeleteIndeed food for thought, I'm gonna justify my age by the amount of scrappy supplies I collect... Lawd a'mighty, I'm 243 years old!!!! lol
ReplyDeleteLOVE your masculine card :)
Awesome, awesome, awesome! This is a perfect masculine card, and you were right to keep it clean and simple and true to your style. This is a great design!
ReplyDeleteWell played!! :) (and yes to the age justification!)
ReplyDeleteKaren--this is an awesome card! I do not leave a comment on all the cards you make, just because there are so many...but...I have not seen one yet that I did not like....keep them coming...you are so talented.
ReplyDeleteFabulous card Karen (one I just might have to case!) :)
ReplyDeleteoh, i love everything about this guy card! my aunt bought my uncle a shirt that said "the one with the most toys, still dies", hoping to slow his garage purchases!--it didn't work:)
ReplyDeleteThis is too fun Karen! Love those bolts and the white notebook panel! Great guy card!
ReplyDeleteI love it when you keep to what you're great at. Fabulous card Karen.
ReplyDeleteYour style rocks, Karen! As do your stories. :) Even if you claimed your mojo had left you forever and gave up making cards I'd still be coming by to read your stories. (Although they're extra fun with the addition of the cards...)
ReplyDeleteWell my hubby is definitely not a "tool" kind of guy (wish he was so he could build things for me and do home repairs), but if you ever need anything tech related, he's the man ;) Your card is FABULOUS, Karen! I have that stamp set but haven't used it much. I bought it so I had more guy card options. Thanks for the inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteI am almost positive we were doing our wedding registry together! My husband can never have enough tools! I love your entry for the Challenge!
ReplyDeleteLove how you made that sentiment strip! Great sentiment, too! ;)
ReplyDeleteMagnificent CAS masculine card!
ReplyDeleteWow! You totally "hit the nail on the head" (hahaha) they do justify their age with the number of tools and toys owned!
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE this card!
such a cool card, Karen! love love how you used the colors. simply fabulous and so YOU! =)
ReplyDeleteI really like this one!
ReplyDeleteTHIS. IS. AMAZING. I want to case this card but then I'll have to buy the stamps. Yup, I love it that much! They also look like skyscrapers to me so you should enter it in the Moxie Fab World contest, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the story--it made me laugh out loud! They hoard tools, we hoard craft supplies...it all works out in the end. ;)
ReplyDeleteI LVOE the card...perfect for the challenge! All the details are so fantastic!! The bolts look so cool in different colors! Fabulous!
What a fun little card Karen. I love the small bit of red, it really jumps out on your card.
ReplyDeleteAwesome masculine card! I like the dimension you created via the placement and coloring of the bolts. Great story, too! Our garage is definitely my husband's territory, and it's full of woodworking tools and a wood strip canoe that is nearing completion. We have a deal: I don't complain about the number of tools he has and he doesn't complain about the number of crafting supplies/gadgets I have! HA!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful take on the challenge Karen!
ReplyDeleteTFS.
I love how you've used the colors - that pop of red is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI always love how you use this set Karen.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card. really masculine.
ReplyDeleteTools and man????? let's just look in our hobby corners. :-) But still his are bigger and louder.
Very cool card!!!
ReplyDeleteHow cute that your hubby registered for tools for the wedding....and what a good wife to let him. LOL. Thank you so much for playing along in the Embellish Challenge.
