Fly Daddy Lure

My father is an avid fisherman, and I am grateful that he's shared his passion (and secrets) with my son. 

With that in mind, I knew that I had to pick up the Fly Daddy Stamp Set from Catherine Pooler Designs. I put the set with the fun images to use on this card I made for my dad for Father's Day.

I started with an Ultra Smooth White Cardstock base and dry embossed the front with an older embossing plate from Papertrey Ink that has various sizes of concentric circles. I then die cut a tag from Tags, Etc., creating a bold, mixed-media water scene with post-it tape, It's A Boy Ink, Skylight Ink, water droplets and then the Polka Hearts Stencil.

I then stamped one of the lures from Fly Daddy onto the tag and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. I stamped and fussy cut another of the same lure, in Orange Twist (selective stamping on the bottom half), then entirely in Midnight, and then did some selective coloring on the top half with a blender pen and Lime Rickey. I fussy cut just the lure's body and affixed some gold twine to the mouth as well as an eye made from Nuvo Drops. I attached the lure right on top of the gold embossed lure with dimensional adhesive and then attached the tag and bits of scrap colored paper to the card base with a staple. I finished the card with a heat embossed sentiment from a mix of stamps from Honey Bee Designs.
