Catherine Pooler Designs & Pear Blossom Press Collab Hop

Welcome to the Catherine Pooler Designs x Pear Blossom Press Collab Hop! We're sharing fun, interactive cards that will really brighten your day. They feature awesome new stamps and dies from Catherine Pooler Designs, and with help from Pear Blossom Press, they all really light up!  Be sure to hop along with us for loads of inspiration. If you are following along on the hop, you should have arrived from Ali Farmer's blog.

My first card is clean and simple, but it is the first thing I thought of when I received my EZ Light Kit from Pear Blossom and the Bright Ideas Stamp Set from Catherine Pooler Designs. I leave the light on my for my teenager while he is out with friends at night, as my parents did for me. Nostalgia! Knowing that the lights go out when they get home is comforting.

The set up was so simple for this! I did a preliminary layout of the card by die cutting a window out of a panel from the On the Window Sill Dies, so I knew where the light would hang. Then I attached the battery to the card base and ran the wires by the side and up to the top. The die cuts from the Bright Ideas Dies hid the wires. I then stamped the lightbulb and globe from Bright Ideas onto vellum and die cut it so it created a pocket to sandwich the lights in. The socket case was colored in with the fabulous Essential Gel Pens.

I then attached Double Thick Foam Tape available at Pear Blossom Press to the top panel that was stamped with a sentiment from Bright Ideas, as well as an instructive stamp set called Interactive Labels available at Pear Blossom Press. I added acetate for the window, and then die cut a window from from On the Window Sill Dies out of paper embossed with a woodgrain texture and mounted everything to a pink cardstock base, finishing with a heart die cut on the window.

This was seriously so easy to put together, I have another card to showcase using the same kind of lights, this time I created a holiday slim line card!

For this card, I started by die cutting a three circle cut-out panel from the Post This Slim Line Die. I covered it with Juniper Mist and Queen for a Day ink, and splattered white paint and water droplets to create a night time sky. The panels were back with vellum. On the third circle, I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from the Holiday Mix Stamp Set in silver embossing powder.

I then freehand cut another panel to create a snow bank, adhering that to the top of the night sky panel, after stamping and heat embossing a sentiment from Interactive Labels with white embossing powder. I adhered the battery pack behind the snow bank and ran each of the three lights from the EZ Light Kit up to the bottom of the circle. The panel was adhered to a slim line card base with Double Thick Foam Tape. I then added houses and a church die cut in black paper from the Winterhaven Dies, backed each with vellum and colored the windows with copics.

I love how each of these windows light up, and the color of the copic marker shades the light as well.

Any card created with the light kits from Pear Blossom Press are stunners! My boys were quite impressed with these two cards, more so than any other card I have created!

The next stop on the hop is Pear Blossom Press.

AECP:: Polychromatic Roses

I am constantly in awe of the classes that I have taken as part of the Altenew Educator Certification Program. Even after stamping for more than a dozen years, I have learned so many new techniques and get to work with gorgeous stamps. Today's card is my entry for the Polychromatic Online Cardmarking Class. Nina had six lessons focusing on the use of colors, but one really stood out to me...

I used bold shades of pinks and greens to create a faux watercolor technique taught by Nina. I also used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to achieve the look. I found that using a Mini Mister really helped. I stamped with the (now retired?) Build-A-Flower: Rose. One think I think I would change is to let the previous stamping dry before stamping another layer, as after a while, the watercolor paper was pretty saturated.

I trimmed the watercolor panel and then did a simple white heat embossed sentiment onto black paper, backed with a piece of vellum. The sentiment is from the Sentiment Strips Stamp Set.
I was really happy with the end result, I let the background shine. I think it looks like wallpaper, and would be so super sweet in a girl's room. I was really happy with the soft and dreamy nature of the panel.

This card was part of Level 2 of my journey in the Altenew Educator Certification Program.

Bright Rays

The Creative Thinking Release from
Catherine Pooler Designs is quite fun, as is all the releases from them! Today's card showcases some items from the Bright Idea Bundle. My clean and simple card started with an Ultra Smooth White Cardstock base onto which I stamped a sentiment from Bright Days in Midnight Ink. I then created some light rays by coloring cardstock with Limoncello and Catching Rays. I splattered some water and then after drying, die cut the rays from the Sunburst Strips Cover Plate Die.

I then stamped and die cut one of the many lightbulbs from the Bright Days stamp set in Midnight Ink and die cut it with the corresponding Bright Days Dies. For a bit of added interest, I outlined the wires with a silver pen and colored in the base of the lightbult with the pen as well. For a final touch, I added some sequins from the versatile Crater Lake Sequin Mix.

This set is truly perfect for clean and simple cards, or technique cards too!

Bright Ideas

The upcoming release from Catherine Pooler Designs celebrates the creative process. The Creative Thinking Release is full of main image stamps that celebrate each stage of the process from the light bulb moment, to the time spent at your desktop and then to your final masterpiece." The release will be available tomorrow, Wednesday, June 9th for general release and right now for Stamp Nation Members.

I have another card to share for this release made with the Bright Idea Bundle. How clever of the Catherine Pooler Designs team to think of stamps/products for the beginning of the creative process. This stamp set, Bright Days, features so many fun and cute lightbulbs with perfect sayings.

I started my card with a watercolor panel, where I painted a dark room with Juniper Mist and Queen for a Day inks, leaving three areas for Limoncello Ink. I splattered the panel with water and white paint. I then stamped some light bulbs and wires from the Bright Days stamp set in Midnight Ink onto  Ultra Smooth White Cardstock, and die cut them with the corresponding Bright Days Dies. After the watercolor panel was dry, I adhered the lightbulbs to the panel with dimensional adhesive, then stamped and white heat embossed the sentiment, also from  Bright Daysthen in a variety of Catherine Pooler inks, used the backside of each cooresponding lightbulb to "color" the lightbulb in. Yellows used were , Chiffon, Tiki Torch, Sauna, Tiara and Catching Rays. I added a sentiment, also from the Bright Days.

The card panel was then adhered to a card base. I tried to mimic the glow of the lights with watercolor, although not too successful I still ended up with a super fun card! I'll be trying this out next time with just an ink blended background.

Please check back for more inspiration the remainder of the week! Did you know that Catherine Pooler Designs has an awesome essential tools collection, new items and restocks are usually added every Wednesday...check out the whole collection of new items here!!

New products aren't available until they are released, they are listed in bold. But all other products are available now!
