Cannot Resist the Stack

I simply cannot resist staking the animal stamps from MFT. I absolutely love how splatters can add just interest to a card. I asked my oldest to randomly pick a set from my MFT bin, he closed his eyes and pointed to the retired Lucky Dog Stamp Set. I then set to work to create a card with the MFT Color Challenge 160.

I colored the dogs in kraft and milk chocolate colors, fussy cut them and added them to a card base that had been ink blended and splattered with a teal blue background on the top two thirds of the card. I also added a die cut sentiment form the retired Friend Die-Namic (similar to this one).

I coated the letters with Glossy Accents before adhering to the card, and to tie the glossy accents together, I also coated the noses of the dogs with it. I finished the card with a stamped sentiment from Lucky Dog as well. I am not at all patient when it comes to applying or waiting for Glossy Accents to dry, so I have a few bubbles. I chalk it up to adding character.

A Fox in a Window

I'm still playing around with Catherine Pooler Designs newest collection, For Your Crew. The little fox might be my favorite of all the critters from the Party Crew Bundle.

I started by partially cutting a shutter window from the the Four Window Cover Plate Die and covered it with Cummerbund Ink. I accentuated the shutters with a marker. I mounted the shutter with a frame from the Stitched Squares Frame Dies. I set that aside and then went to work on the card base. I covered part of the card base with Catching Rays Ink, and then the remainder with In the Park Ink, of course, adding a bit of splatter.

I then adhered a stamped fox from the Critter Crew Stamp Set, die cut with the Critter Crew Die Set, stamped in Orange Twist. The fox was tucked under the window and then adhered to the card base.

I finished with some stamped and die cut embellishments from Critter Crew Stamp Set and Critter Crew Die Set, and a stamped sentiment from Critter Crew Stamp Set. I added some black glossy accents as well!

Share Handmade Kindness Stencil Challenge

 

I like stencils, but stencils aren't my go-to. When I read about the Stencil Challenge on Jennifer McGuire's new Facebook Group, Share Handmade Kindness, I knew that I wanted to challenge myself and play. The results are so-so. I guess it is always good to stretch your limits, though!

I started with the Flourish & Whimsey Stencil from Catherine Pooler Designs.

I first inked it with Melon Ice, then shifted it slightly and applied Lemongrass Ink. Finally, I moved it more and applied a coat of sticky, Wow Embossing Ink and Perfect Pearls, as Jennifer showcased in her video. I framed the background with a die cut from the Chalkboard Frame Dies covered with Lemongrass Ink. The panel was mounted to a card base made from Ultra Smooth White Cardstock.

I then stamped, watercolored with Flirty Fuchsia ink and fussy cut one of the birds from Fluttering Friends Stamp Set. I finished the card with a sentiment from Grace in Bloom Stamp Set and One Liners Stamp Set, stamped onto a fishtail flag banner die cut from the Hearts N Tags Die Set.

It truly was fun to learn a new technique and play around!

Life is Messy

Life is messy...bu friends, indeed, do help!

I pulled out the Cat-astrophe Stamp Set because it is the most cutest set ever, and played around to create a card for the MFT Color Challenge #159.

I colored the kittens in gray tones, the ball of yarn in purple, and then masked them to be able to ink some soft yellow around the images. I added the retired Stitched Strip Die-namics along the bottom, as this die always reminds me of cat scratches! I also added a strip from retired Happy Trails patterned paper die cut from the Grassy Hills Die-Namic. I finished the card with a sentiment from the same  Cat-astrophe Stamp Set.

 

Oh Nuts

 

Oh Nuts, I Missed Your Birthday! Common occurance with me, I make cards but don't send them! I decided to stock my stash with some belated birthday cards this cold winter day.

The MFT Sketch Challenge #528 was a great opportunity to do so, and I couldn't resist inking up these sweet squirrels from Birdie Brown's Squirrel! Stamp Set.

I chose to do somewhat of a spotlight technique with the sketch. I first stamped the squirrel images (yes, I should have put the single squirrel on top, but oh well!) onto a card base, then onto a panel. I then cut the panel into three strips, and colored each with copic markers. They were affixed back onto the card.

I finished the card with some white gel pen accents, and a sentiment stamped with the same stamp set. I also added a fishtail frame banner, a retired die-namic from MFT.

Slim Critters

 

I have another card featuring Catherine Pooler Designs newest collection, For Your Crew! This collection is about friendship! We all have friends from different segments and times of our lives- the ones who make you laugh the most, the ones from school and college days, the ones who make you feel fancy- whoever they may be, this collection has a little something for anyone in your crew! 

I jazzed up the members of the Party Crew Bundle with some fun specs, and I am digging this slimline style. 

I started by die cutting my slim line card panel with the Post This Slim Line Die, die cut from Ultra Smooth White Cardstock. I then created a card base with the remaining part of the 8.5x11 sheet, inking the edges with Midnight Ink for a border. On the front of the panel, I inked three areas, with  Catching Rays, Do-Si-Do, and Pucker Up inks. A bit of water and black paint slpatter was added for some texture, and then I stamped and die cut three critters from the Critter Crew Stamp Set, and the Critter Crew Die Set.

I then die cut some glasses from the Pet Specs Dies, inked them with Midnight Ink and applied a coat of sheer glitter over them. i finished the card with a white heat embossed sentiment from the Chatterbox Background Stamp Set.
