Flowers on Wood

I thought I would try something different with this card, by building my own "background".
I was inspired by the vintage colors from the July 2020 Altenew Inspiration Challenge.

I started with a kraft card base, stamping some of my favorite floral images from Beautiful Day and Remember This stamp sets from Altenew. The flowers and leaves were stamped with shades of blush and sage, and then colored with Prismacolor Colored Pencils. I then added a "background" of wood or a tree trunk with copic markers and colored pencils. I finished the card with a die cut sentiment from Majestic Blooms.

Whale of a Time

One of the best summer vacations I can remember is traveling out of state with my boys, my sister and her son and visiting my parents, sister and her boys in North Carolina. We spent a few days at the ocean just enjoying life with no agenda at the time. It was wonderful!

I was reminded of this best summer vacation when I saw the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge, Summertime Fun. I used Lawn Fawn's Critters in the Sea, Happy Everything, and Year Six. I created a shaker wreath from copic colored images from the above set, then applied it to a sea-worthy card base covered in Distress Oxide and Distress Inks in shades of blue. The shaker was filled with iridescent sequins and beads.

Bright Clouds and a Dragon

These sweet, little MFT Magical Dragons get me every time! I was drawn to the colors in the July Butterfly Reflections Ink Mood Board Challenge (hosted by Davina) and I based my card off of the My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #499

I created some bright clouds using distress inks and the MFT Clouds Stencil, then colored and die cut the sweet dragon from Magical Dragons, as well as clouds from Magical Unicorns and the balloon from Adorable Elephants. I finished with a sentiment from More Essential Sentiments Stamp Set.

I'm so happy that I overcame my fear of creating with bright colors and using a colored card base, because I love this sweet card!

Bringing The Cheer Challenge: Week Four

Thank you to everyone that joined in on the Bringing the Cheer Challenge Weeks One through Three! There's one week left of our little challenge. If you missed the first three weeks, you still have time to play!
Kelly, Amy and I are teaming together every Sunday in July to bring some holiday cheer! For Week Four, we are inviting you to create a holiday project based on the color combination in our graphic.

To enter, upload your photo on your Instagram page and use the hashtag #bringingthecheer2020 so we can find it! We will randomly draw two participants to win $15 each to their favorite online crafty store on August 2, 2020. (Although not required, we would really appreciate it if you follow our Instagram accounts for more inspiration at @kelbertram @amypeach1978 and @kmskerve)

For my holiday card today, I did some no line coloring on an image from Lil' Inker Designs Tis' The Season Stamp Set. Oh, how I miss that company! I stamped in no-line ink, laid a base of color with Copic Markers, then added detail and shading with Prismacolor Colored pencils.

I stamped the sentiment in Over Coffee Ink and then mounted the colored panel onto some shimmery copper cardstock. The card base panel was embossed with the Flourish and Whimsy Stencil from Catherine Pooler Designs, and then the panel adhered over the card.

It was fun to pull out some of my favorite sets that I haven't used in a while, just to play and have some fun! I hope that you have a chance to play along with us, and please stop by our instagram's pages!

Eat the Rainbow

Just a quick card I made for fun, to get my coloring in for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge. I wanted to practice coloring in rainbows, as I tend to craft and color in muted tones and/or shades of pinks and greens.

I stamped and masked the veggies from Paper Smooches Vegtastic Stamp Set, then colored them in rainbow order with copic markers.

I bordered the colored panel with some black paper, then mounted the panel to a white card base and did a simple stamped sentiment from Vegtastic.

Have you had a chance to work on something that has been a challenge for you, or something that you've been putting off trying?

Quilted Snarky Card

You know you are great friends and have a long-lasting friendship when you can give a snarky card, right? I was so thrilled to use the feminine arm chair image from His and Hers paired with the One Liner Sentiments for this snarky card, they were a match made in heaven! I paired the two with other past items and new releases from Catherine Pooler Designs One Plus One Collection, just released yesterday!

The idea for my card started by a comment made by Catherine and Erika during one of their lives on Facebook. They mentioned that the chevron paper from A Tisket, A Tasket Patterned Paper Pack reminded them of a quilt, so I took that and ran with it! I pierced holes in the paper to match the chevrons and then stitched over them with black embroidery floss.

It created this cool, homespun look and completely transformed the paper. I framed the stitched piece from the yellow pattern from A Tisket, A Tasket Patterned Paper die cut with the Good Things Mini Cover Plate Die. This plate is so versatile, and the frame that it creates is just the perfect size for a card front. I then stamped the arm chair from His and Hers in Rockin' Red Ink, die cutting it with the coordinating His and Hers Die Set.

I stamped and white heat embossed a sentiment from Happy Birthday Many Ways, tucking the chair behind it, and then tucking the chair and the sentiment in the frame. The quilt panel was mounted to a card base made from Ultra Smooth White Cardstoc and I finished the card with a stamped sentiment from One Liner Sentiments,

I hope that you have a plethora of good friends that you can sent this kind of card too!

The One Plus One Collection is available now from Catherine Pooler Designs. The shop is also stocked with an awesome essential tools collection, new items and restocks are usually added every Wednesday...check out the whole collection of new items here!!

A Picture Perfect Wedding

It's release day for the One Plus One Collection from Catherine Pooler DesignsOne Plus One is about love and family...it features Catherine Pooler Designs' first bundle of baby card products and lots of wedding and anniversary sentiments! As always, there are a few bundles to choose from too.

I have a quick little card I made, referencing the times way back when (when people where able to gather and celebrate weddings!) where photo booths were popular! I remember having so much fun with the props available at weddings, and seeing the final pictures were hilarious! I stamped the masculine and feminine images (minus the chairs) from His and Hers and die cut them with the coordinating His and Hers Die Set. I adhered a toothpick to the back of each image with a glue dot, then arranged them inside a frame made with the Scalloped Frame Dies, covered in Hot Tub Ink. I used the Polka Dot Cover Plate to emboss the front of a card base made from Ultra Smooth White Cardstock, then finished with a sentiment from His and Hers and the Celebrate Die.

I can't wait to see what you've picked up for this release and create with it!

Celebrate Good Things Money Gift Card

I don't know about you, but I'm ALWAYS in the need of a card for a teenager, or a card to give with a gift of money. ALWAYS. How perfect is the Good Things Mini Cover Plate Die for a gift of money and a card all together?! And to make this card even more special, it is kind of a shaker and has an interactive flap too! Plus, it was super easy to create!

This money gift card shaker interactive card (hah!) features items from the One Plus One Collection-the next release from Catherine Pooler Designs that is releasing tomorrow!! The One Plus One Collection is about love and family...it features Catherine Pooler Designs' first bundle of baby card products and lots of wedding and anniversary stamps! As always, there are a few bundles to choose from too. The collection will be available Wednesday, June 22nd at 9am EST.

Here's how the card came together:
My card base is Ultra Smooth White Cardstock, covered with the beautiful, trendy, fun yellow patterned paper from the A Tisket, A Tasket Patterned Paper Pack. I then did a partial die cut from the front cover a frame made from the Good Things Mini Cover Plate Die- which is so unbelievably versatile. I was careful to cut only three sides, so that there was a flap made from the frame. I also fully die cut the Good Things Mini Cover Plate Die from another piece of White Cardstock. Then, I filled a small clear envelope with sequins from Big Apple Sequins Mix and a $20 dollar bill. I adhered this to the inside of the card front with some washi tape.

On the inside of the card, I stamped the word Celebrate from the WooHoo Stamp Set, positioning the stamped sentiment so that I could see the word when the card was closed. Back to the front of the card, I adhered the white frame that I had die cut from Good Things Mini Cover Plate Die, matching it up with the partial die-cut frame. I used my Bearly Arts Glue to adhere the "Good Things" sentiment over the clear envelope. When the recipient receives the card, all they have to do is tear the washi tape to get the money!

I have a few more cards I'll be showing from the One Plus One Collection, one can never have too much inspiration! Did you know that Catherine Pooler Designs has an awesome essential tools collection, new items and restocks are usually added every Wednesday...check out the whole collection of new items here!!

New products aren't available until they are released, they are listed in bold. But all other products are available now!
