NFC Championship
The Chicago Bears host the Green Bay Packers today to hammer it out for the NFC Championship Title and a trip to the Superbowl-the two haven't met in this situation for 70 years! Although I'm not a Packer Fan, I do live in Wisconsin and it would be great to see our economy get the boost it needs if they win. So with that I say, Go Pack Go!
Plus....Jing-Jing left a comment on a previous post that she would root for the Packers if I played along with the Color Room Challenge #42 this week! After stamping the butterflies in watermark ink, I applied a few colors of mist to an acrylic block, misted it with water and then applied it over the butterflies. A neat effect for a background, but I wanted my butterflies to stand out a bit more for a focal point so I stamped over them in ink. The rest of the card came together with a sketch from Skipping Stones Designs. I chose a versatile sentiment is from Furnishing Fun by Schlosser Designs, I could send it out for a birthday or anniversary I think. I really went out of my comfort zone here, tried a complex layout and new products, so I think this is a great fit to the Wee Memories Challenge: Free Your Creativity-Anything Goes.

A Holly Jolly Chair + Winner
Some people like to go all out for Christmas, and I admire them. Me, well, I tend to stick to the bare minimum right now-probably due to the two rough and tumble boys that like to hang out at my place! A tree, my nativity and a few ceramic plates is about all I do. I guess you could call my decorating clean and simple too!
The overall design for this card came from the sketch by Amy Heller and the holly inspiration came from the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge. Super easy to create the woodgrain look to the chair from Schlosser Designs Furnishing Fun stamp set by using distress ink!

Enjoying the Hexagon
Search "hexagon" on Google and you end up with a yield of about 6,990,000 results 0.39 seconds. This little shape is truly amazing, and worthy of that many entries on the world wide web. Throw in some awesomely trendy patterns such as wood grain, and its this clean and simple cardmaker's dream stamp.
This one layer card created for the Happily Ever Challenged Challenge consists of three stamps: the woodgrain hexagon from Schlosser Designs stamped in a row in two different colors-sides touching, the outline hexagon from the same set stamped to overlap, and a simple sentiment. I scored a line at the top and bottom for a bit of visual interest. This design allows you to switch up the patterns and colors for a completely different kind of card. For instance, switch to the hexagon polka dotted stamp and stamp in light greens and purples, add a touch of light brown and you have a baby or little girl's birthday card.
