AECP:: Color!

I have been enjoying my summer, spending time with my boys and my family. Time in my craft closet have been rare, but I got in there today to create a card for my continuing journey with the Altenew Educator Certification Program. I thoroughly enjoyed the Color Your Day Class taught by the talented Therese. In the second video, Therese shared many ideas on how to be inspired by color and step outside of your comfort zone, one of which was to participate in the a card challenge that uses an inspiration photo. What better way to be inspired than by the monthly Altenew Inspiration Challenge? August's photo was so bright and beautiful.

Normally, when I color flowers, I use realistic color combinations, but I took Therese's advise and used colors that I normally don't reach for. Instead of using a green/yellow for leaves, I used a blue/green. I stamped the beautiful bouquet from the Just Because Stamp Set in the lightest shade from the Rock Mini Ink Cube collection and colored with Copic Markers. I then pushed the envelope in the design by using glitter paste with the Wonderful Wreath Stencil to add details.

I mounted the image in a light pink mat, then placed that on a teal card base to match the leaves. I finished the card with a stamped sentiment from the Many Thanks Stamp Set.

I also used Therese's trick about color using the 70/20/10 method. The main color is the bright pink, the next the teal and finally the soft pink and gray.

This card was part of Level 2 of my journey in the Altenew Educator Certification Program.
