Three Kites

"I often sit and wish that
I could be a kite up in the sky,
and ride upon the wind
and go whichever way I chanced to blow."
~author unknown

Today Wendy P. from Paper, Ink and Smiles is joining me with a Carbon Copied project using Practicing Creativity Designs stamp set called You're Dandy and Moxie Fab World's Vertical Sketch Challenge. I've followed Wendy's amazing work for quite a while now and am delighted to share a spot next to her on the Skipping Stones Design Design Team.

I've flipped the sketch upside down and paper pieced the kites. After inking all the edges of each piece of paper for a vintage inspired look, I adhered them all to a rustic card base. Simple, yes, but it brings back memories of the simple days when I was a kid and that is why I make cards. I remember now why I don't make cards the "normal Hallmark" way with the vertical orientation and the fold going down the side rather than the top-they are a bugger to photograph.

Thanks to Wendy and please go check out her card today featuring the same set and the same sketch challenge (and you may want to scroll down a bit on her blog for a wonderful tutorial on a wood-burned bracelet...it is of the upmost beauty...ah-mazing!)

(I have a link to sign up for a Carbon Copied feature on my sidebar, if you are interested!)

Supplies Used:
Cardstock: (Natural White) SU
Patterned Paper: GCD
Stamps: (You're Dandy) Practicing Creativity Designs
Ink: (Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo Distress) Ranger

  9. I love the colors and textures, especially the big thick stripes of the background. Every time I make a card with the fold down the side I also recall why I hate doing them that way, they ARE hard to photograph, and they sometimes make tying a ribbon or twine around rather difficult too (and I do love some twine)

  28. love that you flipped the sketch. Never heard of that stamp company and will definitely browse their store. Not sure why, but your description of the card and childhood reminded me of when I was little. I was walking down a lane drinking those juices that are in those teeny tiny wax bottles??? remember those? anyway, I fell and scraped my knee pretty bad. Don't think I ever had that candy again... Just sharing the freedom of being little, skipping down a lane, enjoying for a moment being a KID!
