Lost Mittens

The three little kittens, they lost their mittens,
And they began to cry,
"Oh, mother dear, we sadly fear,
That we have lost our mittens."
"What!   Lost your mittens, you naughty kittens!
Then you shall have no pie."
"Meow, meow, meow."
Then you shall have no pie...
~Mother Goose

Reading Mother Goose poems at my age cracks me up. Most of them don't make a pinch of sense, but then they are stuck in my head for a long time! Living in Wisconsin during winter, our house is constantly full of lost mittens, now that they are too old for the length of yarn that connects the pair.

There is a fun new challenge debuting tonight at CAS-ual Fridays! Create a clean and simple project that utilizes paper piecing. We are welcoming back The Craft's Meow as a sponsor so you don't want to miss your chance to play along to win the fabulous prize!

I paper pieced the mittens from the great The Craft's Meow set Warm Winter Wishes, which has big, outlined images that are perfect for this application. A bit of snowflake and sentiment stamping from the same set and glue and string (in the shape of a heart!) finished up the card.

Please check out the CAS-ual Fridays Blog for challenge rules, sponsor and prize details as well as to see the fantastic paper pieced creations from the Girl Fridays!

  13. Karen,
This is so cute. Have you ever owned a pair of mittens that were connected by a string? I haven't, but it would be a great idea so I wouldn't lose them. LOL!

  18. LOL, I agree, Mother Goose makes no sense! In fact, our Three Little Kittens book disappeared while we were in the condo. It's still missing to this day and we are stumped as to where it may have gone! Your card is so pretty and cozy. I will need those mittens this weekend when we'll want to stay indoors!

  41. I was looking around and clicked on the CAS-ual Fridays link. When I saw your mittens w/heart card I smiled to myself. I loved the post for a number of reasons. I love a card blog that has something a little more than just directions on how to create the card. I invite you to visit me at www.summerwalkdesigns.com to see how I used twine on a valentine card. After seeing your card I think you'll like what I did too.

A darling card and wonderful post.

    Kind regards,
    Susie ~
