Tiled Sympathy

Her eyes scanned across the room gilted with gold accents and fine furniture. She stopped and stood in front of the victorian walnut chair upholstered in velvet but it wasn't the chair that intrigued her. Rather, the wallpaper on the wall behind the chair. Delicate. Old. Intricate. Everything beautiful.

Off the Wall Craftiness has the best color challenge which reminded me of my visit to the historic mansion here in town. Sympathy cards are always difficult for me to make, but I used my last one and needed another. I kept the design fairly simple and embellishments to a minimal so that the stamps design and message shine. It was fun to see if I could recreate the vintage wallpaper.

  7. This is so soft and beautiful, a really perfect sympathy card. The twine treatment is genius, adding just a touch of texture without distracting from the gorgeous stamped bg.

  11. Fabulous! The ink is so soft on the stamped images - did you use a watercolor or tissue paper type technique? I just love how the colors are varied, too. It's a perfect sympathy card - serene and reflective.

    Hugs!

PS - I got ANOTHER Hug in the mail today - you are incredibly sweet!!!! Thank you for the gorgeous card and the pretty tapes and Baker's twine!

  13. Sympathy cards are not something I enjoy making in fact, it's not something I can bring myself to make to have on hand, so I always have such a difficult time with it, but everything about this card is perfect and the person receiving it will appreciate it so much Karen. Your use of your own inspiration as well as ours is just phenomenal. You have such great execution. Okay, I could just go on and on so with that....Thanks for joining in the fun and playing along with us at OTWC and Good luck! :-)

  25. Love the story at the beginning! I'm currently reading a fab book about a grand old house (The House At Riverton by Kate Morton), and this felt like a page right out of it! Lovely.

Gorgeous card! I love the "wallpaper" background with the distress inks. And that twine! I don't know how on earth you secured it back there, but I LOVE the effect! Beautiful!
